Barbara Steinacker was born in Paterson, New Jersey and grew up in upstate New York. As a child she was always interested in art, colors and the impact they had on each other.
Artist Statement: "...I use a combination of Girault, Sennelier, Unison, Rembrandt and Nupastel pastels. The harder Nupastels are better for early drawing; the softer, buttery Sennelier and Unisons work better in the later stages. My landscapes are done on sanded paper...As landscape painter, my intention is to record my experience of the beauty of a location; I share with the viewer the feeling of peace and tranquility that I experienced. There is so much chaos and noise in the world today – and people are so busy that they rarely take time to be in nature. I bring them the experience of a tranquil scene with only a glance…"
