Kiu Kavousi

Artist Statement:
" I draw inspiration from nature and music.  My goal is to create poetic visual harmony between colors and textures by methodical juxtaposition of several layers of canvases.  The message of my work is tranquility and peace.  In the painting titled, Four Seasons, each of the four smaller canvases represent a season suspended over a larger canvas which is the vast timeless universe.  Each work has an underlying theme and structure.  The outcome is not completely defined until all the pieces come together to form the final composition similar to the composition of classical music (e.g. Composition in 2).  Like the visual effect of a breathtaking landscape or visceral effect of a musical symphony they illicit a positive emotional reaction in all of us.  The aim is to quietly compel the viewer to take notice and be reassured, content and at peace with his or her environment."
